Beach Research (6)

To further prepare myself for the project, I decided to do research based on the location we are planning to film at. This would be the beach, this may have us run into some complications. It would be helpful to prepare for these complications to ensure our filming will run as smoothly as possible. This is important for us to stay on schedule and not get behind.

The first aspect I researched is beach filming etiquette. One thing we must be aware of is our noise level. It is considerate to think of others around us. Keeping noise to a minimum will. allow the people around us to feel respected. We will need to stay out of people's way and not get random people on film without their consent. To avoid this, we should go at a time of day when the beach is least busy. I researched this and it seems like the peak hours are 11am until 2pm on weekends. Given this information, we will aim to film around 3pm until 7pm since the sunsets around 6:30pm.

We need to respect the environment if we disturb it. We will bring trash bags for any trash that we need to dispose of while or after filming. As well as filling in any holes we dig to not harm animals making their way to the ocean like baby turtles or injury of others. This is important as we do not want to have complaints from other beachgoers or lifeguards about us leaving a mess or hole that bother others.

It is important for us to know how and where to set up our camera. I have a tripod in my garage that we can use at the beach, but we need it to be stabilized for good filming. To do this, we will bring a long stable board or peice of wood. We have to keep  the legs shorter if possible. High tide comes around 5pm on saturday. We will keep this in mind when setting up our camera to make sure we don't get any equipment wet. It is best to use weights on the end of the legs so that the tripod does not blow away. This is why I did research on the tides and wind predictions.

This research will help us greatly to avoid these small mishaps during our filming set up. Being knowledgeable on etiquette and how to setup the camera will help us in the long run. It may seem like something small, but it could take up a lot of time learning these things along the way. It will save us on time and the hassle to be aware of this before we show up. As well as showing up prepared with trash bags, weights, and a stabilizer for the tripod.
