Group meeting (7)

     Today, we met in groups to discuss with our peers our opening scene ideas, seeking feedback as well as giving each other feedback. I got some important advice and pointers from the people in my group meeting. I was also able to help some other people in my group brainstorm ideas.

    Shira's opening scene is about a zombie apocalypse and that's all she had when she came into the meeting. We brainstormed ideas and were able to help her map out most of her opening scene. The film will start with a normal world, credits will be displayed with the shots of a regular world. The time stamp will be displayed, then the time stamp glitches and it jumps to in the future with the apocalypse. There can be a voiceover of the news broadcasting an outbreak and to take shelter. Shira was able to be helped the most as she came into the meeting as a blank canvas for us to work with. I was also able to help her figure out how to attach links to words on her blog.

     Julia had a drama genre consisting of a main character on her last day of school. Everyone is happy and excited for summer. Yet there is a scene that shows the main character writing in her diary "I don't know if I want to live this summer"  We gave her idea to do an over the shoulder shot of the girl writing in her diary for a clearer shot. Also, to write in bold red lettering and to even have some water drop on the paper in a close up shot to express her main characters pain. 

    Adriana's opening scene is a psychological drama about a toxic couple that sees each other in public and after being broken up for a while. When the guy grabs the girls arm to say hi she gets flashbacks of their abusive relationship. I was able to suggest to her that a black and white coloring would help portray the flashback. We let her know that she should talk with her group about possible ideas on how to suggest a further storyline because right now it seems like a short film. We tried to brainstorm ideas but none seemed appealing, so we thought it would be a better idea for her and her group to reflect on any notes they took when brainstorming. As they may be able to help her better than we can.

    As for my feedback, I told my group about my opening film idea for now and they let me know that it sounds too closely to a short film and that the ending doesn't suggest a further plot of the storyline enough. So, they helped me come up with the idea that there can be an ending scene of a missing poster instead of just a blackout. Some sort of sirens in the background as the poster is being hung up. They also let me know the structure of my opening scene needs to be planned out better. So, before i create my storyboard I will make sure I have the structure layed out.
