Storyboard (10)

The next step in my project that I have completed is the storyboard. This is significant in cutting back on wasted filming time. When filming, it can be hard to be creative as you are focused on being practical with how and where to take each shot. You set yourself up for a smoother filming process by creating the outline for the sequence of shots and angles for each scene in order. You don't have to be good at drawing, as long as it makes sense to you. My teacher taught us that it can be helpful to draw arrows to remember which way we want objects to move in and out of the screen as well as which way we want the camera to tilt or pan. These are all small things to do when storyboarding that help greatly in the long run.

In addition, when I was creating the storyboard my group and I noticed that the ideas we had in our head would be more complex than we thought and we would probably reach way over the time limit for our opening scene. We also started realizing the ending of our opening scene made it seem like a short film. We started brainstorming again and slightly altered our opening film. We took out the thriller aspect and made it fully coming of age. We were confident to do this because of the research I did and note taking on coming of age films. Now, the plot has shifted to the main character being slightly nerding wanting to fit in with a popular group that takes her out to the beach.
